About Claire Everton

Claire Everton is a professional teacher of Contemporary Voice with an understanding and practical application of vocal technique for healthy and successful singing. With a passion for safe Belt Quality and always keeping an awareness of the emotional connection to artistry and performance, Claire has extensive experience singing and teaching in different genres including Musical Theatre, Jazz, Rock and Pop. Professional engagements include many high profile corporate events at Melbourne's prominent hotels and venues. Claire also performs Musical Puppet Shows for Children's Entertainment - Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Snow White for schools, libraries, fêtes and children's parties.

Claire is totally up to date with current vocal pedagogy, attending numerous voice conferences both locally and overseas, including the UK and USA. She has a particular interest in respiratory function including Professor Sven Smith's Accent Method and how this affects the voice. Vocal health is always a priority in her teaching.

A Certified Master Teacher of Estill Voice Training System, Claire has extensive knowledge covering anatomy, physiology, acoustics and vocal qualities including Speech, Opera and Belt singing. Claire studied Drama at Adelaide's Flinders University, has an Advanced Diploma of Music (Performance) and in 2006 completed Cert 4 TAA training.

Very experienced at audition preparation, Claire is a former VCA tutor and teaches singing at all levels, from beginners to professionals. Clients have included Musical Theatre performers, Pop artists and Rock singers. Currently teaching at Box Hill TAFE and Mentone Girls' Grammar, Claire's students have consistently achieved high grades for VCE Contemporary Voice for over a decade. She has a Working with Children Check (WCC) and is a member of the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS).
